Marie Kondo My Beauty Closet With Priyanka Ganjoo, Founder of Kulfi Beauty

Priyanka is the Director of Glam Bag at ipsy, the largest beauty subscription box company in the U.S. Working in the beauty industry for over 5 years she has had the chance to try hundreds of beauty products, many of which ended up in her personal collection. I put my Marie Kondo Consultant trainee skills to work as we spent 4 hours going through each product until we were left with only those that sparked joy!

Keep reading to see what survived the tidying marathon and what did not…

Products that do not spark joy for Priyanka

Living Proof Shampoo and Conditioner

“I got this from a work event and thought I would use it when I would run out of my current Kérastase shampoo and conditioner, but I don’t love it as much as my go to Kérastase products, which work well for my dry, frizzy hair. This seems to dry out my hair more so does not particularly spark joy”.

Sunday Riley C.E.O Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream

“I’m a big fan of vitamin C products so I thought I would love this. I don’t have sensitive skin but surprisingly this irritates my skin and makes it feel like it is burning, so I don’t love it.”

SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defence SPF 50

“This made me break out! I got it in the Discoloration Regimen Set which I bought to get the Vitamin C and the Serum that I really wanted. The other two products are amazing, but my skin did not react well to this sunscreen.”

NARS Tinted Moisturizer

“I recently bought this tinted moisturizer but it does nothing for me. It’s near zero coverage and it’s supposed to be build-able but it does not seem to be worth the effort. I am comfortable enough to not wear any foundation at all, but when I am going to put on some makeup I would prefer something more full coverage.”

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment

“I have combination skin, and recently I started taking a less is more approach with acid exfoliators and have not been using this much. It is one of their best selling ones, it’s just not my go to.”

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru

“Every influencer loves this Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer, but it does not blend very well on me. It just sits on top of my skin. It does have an amazing texture and I love the coconut smell.”

What Sparked Joy for Priyanka

DHC Cleansing Oil

“This is my favorite cleansing oil. As you can see the bottle is almost empty and I will repurchase it. I will use this until the very last drop.”

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50

“P50 Definitely Sparks Joy, I use it a few times a week and think this is one of those products that truly makes a big difference to the brightness and texture of my skin. It has helped reduce hyperpigmentation over time. You get over the bad smell pretty quickly.”

Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream

“I use it as a leave-in conditioner right after showering before I blow dry my hair. I think it works as a heat protectant…at least that is how I’ve been using it. My other go to leave-in conditioner is Christophe Rodin Daily Hair Creme. The sandalwood scent is so amazing. It smells like a sexy french man, which you can probably tell is a trend for me. I love the more musky fragrances like the Tom Ford Noir Perfume and the Jo Malone Oud and Bergamot Perfume.”

Fresh Sugar Face Polish

This is the only physical exfoliator I use regularly. I like to use a physical exfoliator about once a week. I was also recently introduced to this BEIGIC Correcting Exfoliator made with coffee. My friend in Korea started this brand. It’s new and smells of espresso which is what I need in the morning! It’s actually even more gentle than the Fresh one.”

Bobbi Brown Color Corrector

“As you can see I have 6 of the same Bobbi Brown Color correctors and they all spark joy! I never want to be more than a few meters away from them… So I have a few! It really changes how my makeup looks and hides my under eye dark circles, which is a big skin concern for me.”

SULWHASOO First Care Activating Serum Mist

“I am obsessed with spritzing my face. It re-hydrates the skin and makes for a nice self care moment in the middle of a busy day. This is from Sulwhasoo, a prestige Korean skincare brand. Their essence is supposed to be very good. I also have their eye cream which I use during the day. My needs for an eye cream are pretty basic, it just needs to be moisturizing. I love my night eye cream! It is the Ferulic + Retinol Eye Cream from Dr. Dennis Gross.”
