Meet the Muse it is a series highlighting our community's mindful rituals, beauty staples, and conversations that inspire confidence and introspection. To us, makeup can be a form of self-care, a creative outlet, and intimate practice to ground ourselves for the day ahead. Our Muses walk us through their personalized beauty experiences and conscious living.
Meet Nicole, a Finance professional based in beautiful San Francisco. Nicole is a single dog-mom, passionate about self-improvement and being career oriented. Clean and minimalist beauty has helped her expand her self-care ritual, so she can take on the world head-on. We chatted with Nicole about her morning route, what minimalism means to her, and more!
What’s your ideal morning routine?
I love to start my mornings with a long walk with my dog. Being outside and feeling active straight away helps me clear my mind and set the intention for the day.
What is your favorite Minori product?
I love all the products, but I would have to say the lip glosses. They have the perfect texture and feel on the lips. They never leave my lips feeling overly coated and sticky. They are a new staple for me, in my routine.
What’s something you can’t leave the house without?
A lip moisturizer! Whether it's a chapstick or a gloss, ensuring that my lips have moisture on them is key to ensuring my comfort.
You have 5-minutes to do your makeup, what are you reaching for?
The non-negotiable staples for me are eyes, warmth, and moisture. For my eyes, I focus on brows (Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Micro Brow Pencil) and mascara (Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara). I was guilty of overplucking when I was younger, so I lightly fill in gaps of my eyebrows to make them appear thicker. For warmth, I depend on cream blush (Minori Cream Blush, Scarlet). Lastly, moisture for my lips is key. I love using Minori gloss in Blossom or Aquaphor Lip Repair.
What does minimalism mean to you?
To me minimalism means achieving the desired outcome with as little intervention as possible. When it comes to make-up, it's about creating the look that makes you feel most like yourself, with as little products as possible.
What's the best beauty advice you've received?
My grandmother instilled in me the importance of cleanliness when it comes to your skin. She taught me home recipes for masks and even make-up removers. Although the industry for clean beauty products is much more extensive now, there is something to be said for remedies that contain clean and basic ingredients.
What makes you feel confident?
I feel most confident when I am comfortable. I often feel comfort from many things in my environment. Sometimes it's a clothing piece I am wearing, or a makeup product I know I can rely on for the entirety of the day. This helps me hold my head high and get through the day.
